Literally, door is a means of gaining access to a place or something, and it usually requires a key to open. For instance, a car has doors which must be opened before entering into it. A house has many doors leading to different rooms in the house before each could be accessed. It must be noted that door serves a dual-purpose of either gaining or preventing access. A door is locked to prevent unauthorized entry into a place, thereby securing one’s properties from theft or robbery.
However, the spiritual dimension of the door is quite deep and very mysterious that it is worth giving adequate attention. King David understood this concept when he personified the gates and doors in Psalms 24:7 thus- “Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.” The above scripture reveals that in the spiritual realm, gates and doors have heads, and must also have ears, just like human beings. Therefore, they need to be forcefully addressed by making some decrees and declarations. The scripture does not mean that God, the King of glory, could be denied access into anywhere. The Psalmist was simply preparing the ground for the manifest presence of God. Sin is a major ‘door’ that hinders the presence and glory of God from manifesting. I want you to check your life, is there any ‘door’ standing between you and God? Are you not the one who is hindering God from coming into your situation? In addition, the hierarchies in the spiritual realm can also constitute doors preventing access into one’s destiny fulfillment. Apostle Paul describes them in Ephesians 6:12 thus- “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Putting on the whole armour of God is the key that opens the door (Eph. 6:13-18). An angel of God was prevented by the prince of the kingdom of Persia from reaching Daniel with the response to his request. Angel Michael was then deployed to clear the way and thus open the door for Daniel to be reached. Daniel’s twenty-one days’ fasting and prayer would have been fruitless, if not for God’s intervention (Dan. 10:13). You need to withstand every power constituting ‘door’ to entering into your promised land.
Beloved, the door of your heart is very important to God; that is why He said in Revelations 3:20 “Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door…” Give your life to Jesus Christ today and receive access to open doors. Happy New Month! PEACE
